The Cooley at Reed
Rebranding, marketing, & publication design
The Douglas F. Cooley Gallery at Reed College was established in 1988. Under its most recent director, Stephanie Snyder, the prestigious program began to support an ambitious slate of programs well beyond the walls of the physical gallery. The new brand needed to reflect the evolving breadth, depth, and influence of the institution.
We started with a new naming convention and a powerful new identity that suggests both historical heft and contemporary engagement. Documentation is an important aspect of the gallery’s work; we have collaborated with the director on multiple catalogs and publications. Today, The Cooley is celebrated for its innovative local arts programming, commitment to intellectual engagement, and roster of internationally acclaimed artists, including Marina Abramović and Kara Walker.
