Rock Camp for Girls
More than music
Social and media pressure on girls and young women can be overwhelming. Rock ‘n’ Roll Camp for Girls offers a powerful antidote. Through music and performance, girls find their voices, their confidence, and their self-esteem.
It’s more than music. At Rock ‘n’ Roll Camp for Girls, campers make ‘zines and costumes. They learn self-respect and even self-defense. Collaborating on songwriting and live performances for real audiences challenges and inspires them.
Camp mentors like Carrie Brownstein (Sleater-Kinney, Portlandia) and Beth Ditto (The Gossip) encourage girls to crank up the volume on their music and on their lives—regardless of their life backgrounds, family income levels, or musical knowledge.
Witnessing this transformation is one of the most powerful, touching, and inspiring experiences we’ve ever had.
Plazm was fortunate to help Rock ‘n’ Roll Camp for Girls transition from a small, founder-focused group to a larger and more inclusive organization—one that spawned a global movement. Plazm principal Joshua Berger also spent five years on the Board of Directors.
