Portland area transportation agency TriMet is often lauded as one of the best in the nation. Locally, however, TriMet faced vocal detractors. Plazm created a two-pronged public awareness campaign to help people understand how TriMet’s long-term decisions made a big difference in everyday life.

What Makes This Place Great

Plazm turned to the citizens of TriMet’s service area— Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas counties—for real, emotional stories. Acclaimed Portland photographer Robbie McClaran shot still images. Audio recordings were made into webisodes.

The Big Picture

The sentiment against TriMet was often a sentiment against public transportation in general. We used analytic data mapping to illustrate how TriMet makes life better for all citizens — even those that don’t ride the bus or Max.

Related messaging was embedded throughout. For example, public radio sponsorships during drivetime ended with the line “Brought to you by TriMet, keeping 205,000 cars off the road each day.”
